Handwriting to Text.
Can OCR read handwriting? The honest answer: sometimes. This engine excels at printed and typed text; neat handwriting can produce usable drafts, while cursive or rushed notes often will not.
Try it below with realistic expectations, and take comfort that your personal notes never leave your device. If the result is rough, the built-in editor makes cleanup fast.

How to convert in seconds.
- Add your file with drag & drop, the file picker, or Ctrl + V paste.
- Choose the OCR language that matches your image.
- Press Extract text. Recognition runs locally in your browser.
- Edit the result, then copy it or download it as a .txt file.
Setting honest expectations.
We deliberately avoid claiming "handwriting recognition" as a guaranteed feature. The OCR models are trained primarily on printed typefaces, so even perfect photos of handwriting top out well below print accuracy. Think of this page as a draft generator: it can save real typing time on neat notes, but always proofread the result. For critical documents, pair the output with a careful human review pass in the editable result box.
Tips for the best result.
- Photograph in bright, even, indirect light. No flash glare or shadows.
- Shoot straight down with the page filling the frame.
- Dark pen on plain white paper beats pencil or lined notebooks.
- Use Crop to isolate the handwritten area from background clutter.
Best case
Neat block print, dark ink, plain paper, good lighting.
Worst case
Cursive, pencil, lined-paper interference, shadows, skew.
