Image to Text.
An image to text converter turns the words trapped inside a picture into real, selectable, editable text. This free tool does it with OCR that runs entirely in your browser. Your image never leaves your device.
It handles photos of documents, screenshots, receipts, book pages, posters, and social media images. Drop a file below and get editable text in seconds with no account, no upload, and no watermarks.

How to convert in seconds.
- Add your file with drag & drop, the file picker, or Ctrl + V paste.
- Choose the OCR language that matches your image.
- Press Extract text. Recognition runs locally in your browser.
- Edit the result, then copy it or download it as a .txt file.
Why browser-based OCR?
Traditional converters upload your file to a remote server. That means waiting on a network round-trip, trusting someone else's deletion policy, and hoping sensitive documents stay safe. Browser-based OCR removes the server from the equation entirely: the same open-source engine, running on your own hardware, with your pixels never crossing the network. It is faster for everyday images and private by construction rather than by promise.
Tips for the best result.
- Use the highest resolution version of the image you have.
- Straighten skewed photos. The built-in Rotate setting helps.
- Screenshots of text are usually more accurate than photos of screens.
- If text is faint, use a higher-resolution original and Crop tightly to the text region.
Private by architecture
On-device OCR runs in a Web Worker on your device. There is no server endpoint that could receive your image.
Screenshot-first
Paste with Ctrl + V straight after capturing. No need to save a file first.
Editable results
Fix recognition mistakes inline, then copy or download a clean .txt file.
